Good news for Bright Connect residential customers!
You can now apply for the Household Electricity Credit, a payment introduced by the Western Australian State Government to help eligible households manage the financial pressures associated with the cost of living. This blog post provides important details and instructions on how to apply for the credit, as well as information about the processing timeframe and payment amounts.
Applying for the Household Electricity Credit:
Bright Connect residential customers can apply online to receive the Household Electricity Credit directly into their nominated bank account.
Please note: if you were registered for the Energy Concession Extension Scheme (ECES) on or before May 9, 2023, you don’t need to apply separately for the 2023 Household Electricity Credit. RevenueWA will automatically pay the $500 credit directly into your nominated bank account.
For all other eligible households, applications must be made by November 30, 2023, and will require the following supporting evidence:
1. Proof of Identity — Copy of birth certificate, current Australian or international passport or current driver’s licence.
2. Proof of Electricity Payment — An invoice or receipt for payment of electricity covering the period 9 May 2023. This will be your Bright Connect bill for the May period.
3. Lease Agreement — A copy of the current lease agreement between the tenant(s) and the landlord(s) (if you are a tenant).
4. Bank Statement — A copy of a current bank statement showing the account name, BSB and account number.
Payment Amounts and Processing Timeframe:
The payment amounts for the Household Electricity Credit vary based on eligibility:
Eligible households already receiving the Energy Concession Extension Scheme (ECES) as of May 9, 2023, will receive $500.
All other eligible households will receive $400.
RevenueWA will commence processing applications in the order they were received, starting from mid-August. While it is estimated that applications will be processed within approximately six weeks, this duration may vary depending on the volume of applications received or if additional information is required from applicants.
Keep in mind that Bright Connect does not have visibility into application status or progress, so we are unable to assist with inquiries in this regard.
For more information about the credit please visit the RevenueWA website or read the Household Electricity Credit fact sheet.
